Wednesday's 3 things: MoCo meets SCOTUS

Item 1: It's a beautiful day...
to order the book Pride Puppy.
Context: yesterday's "Don't Say Gay" SCOTUS hearings. You can skim quick threads on Bluesky from Imani Gandy and Katherine Locke, or get a more robust overview at Maryland Matters.
➡️Read and share this post from Pride Puppy's illustrator, Julie McLaughlin, or this statement from targeted authors and illustrators in the case.
➡️Buy it from Bookshop or your favorite small biz for a baby or kid you love. Bonus: Grab a couple of the other targeted books and print out a copy of these activity/coloring pages to turn it into a whole care package!
➡️And/or request that your local library get a copy if they don't already have one.
Item 2: It's a win every time we remember this (from Mira Jacob).
On that note ➡️ some opportunities to plug in.
- Tonight there's a mass call to prepare for May Day actions
- Tomorrow afternoon SURJ holds their monthly Abolition Action Hour
- Tesla profits have fallen 71% and the #TeslaTakedown folks are broadening their scope. Tomorrow they'll hold a kickoff call for their Divest Public Money from Elon Musk campaign.
- DC-area folks: Getfree’s funeral action outside the Dept of Ed is Friday.
Item 3: Make space for your artist self
This Sunday, social worker/collage artist Shelley Gillespie and writer Anne Liu Kellor will host a virtual writing and art workshop called None of Us Exist Alone. They'll cap registration at 22, there's a suggested (not required!) sliding scale donation, and all proceeds will go to Movement Voter Project.
