Tonight's two things

"They want you to be alone."

Item 1

If you are in CA ➡️ Check the latest tour dates for Deepa Iyer’s picture book We Are the Builders! This book is (my) kid-approved and brings the Social Change Map to life in a whole new way.

Deepa Iyer's Social Change Map, an ecosystem of roles different ppl play in movement work. In a center yellow circle are the words Equity, Liberation, Justice, Solidarity. There are lines radiating out from the circle that connect to more circles, each with the name of one role inside. They include: Visionaries, Builders, Caregivers, Disrupters, Healers, Storytellers, Guides, Weavers, Experimenters, Frontline Responders. There's a copyright in fine print at the bottom.
Upon reading the book, the 7yo I live with declared herself a Visionary. 😭😍 (Screenshot from socialchangemap.com)

Wherever you’re located ➡️ Request the book from your local library, buy a copy, and/or subscribe to Deepa Iyer’s newsletter, Throughlines. Her recent post “Eight Years of My Childhood” offers a roadmap for young people (and adults) for the journey ahead.

Item 2

If you are in DC and feel like yelling in the streets ➡️ One option tomorrow, Tuesday!, is to join folks from Indivisible, MoveOn, Working Families Party, and other big groups for a We Choose to Fight: Nobody Elected Elon protest from 5:00-5:45pm outside the Treasury building.

Not everyone can show up to an IRL protest (and not everyone has to; see Item 1!) — but thank you to folks who’ve been masking up and bundling up and showing up in that way. In LA and Atlanta. Outside NYU’s hospital. In DC today. So many.

Screenshot that reads Chapter 4: Protecting People and Operating Under Authoritarian Creep. Subheader is a quote in italics: They want you to be alone. Nobody is going to fix this alone. That's not how this works. - Attributed to Timothy Snyder, author of On Tyranny
Via Indivisible: A Practical Guide to Democracy on the Brink

You’re not alone and neither am I! xo.
