A bonus bouquet of Th/F/wknd things

This is a little longer than usual because (with a sick kid home from day camp) I neglected to click send yesterday! Stick with me through the Weekend Wishes if you can.
Yesterday's collection
Item 1. Small acts
Did you love the Summer Reading Challenge as a kid? ➡️ Professor Peter T. Coleman's Your Summer Homework: 50 Small Acts... may be for you. (Columbia Spectator + this Google doc, all via The Horizons Project's newsletter)
Item 2. Small clinics
SCOTUS came for poor people again yesterday, specifically those who use use Medicaid to access cancer screenings and contraception at Planned Parenthood—and smaller clinics, too.➡️ I've linked to the West Alabama Women's Center fundraiser before, but they're still a long way from their 2025 goal. Their Exec Director also posted that their wish list includes car seats for their patients' newborn babies, if you're looking for a concrete way to help.
Item 2.5 FYI
Tomorrow the Supreme Court rulings in six major cases will come down.
➡️ Prepare your herbal tea / gardening gloves / group chat / protest sign materials / whatever will help your nervous system. [Ed. note on Friday: oof.]
Friday follow-ups + fire-lighters:
- If you have a House rep and you give a shit about Zohran Mamdani and/or citizenship and/or Islamophobia ➡️ make this call now, please. (Bluesky)
- Re: Mahmoud Khalil and Palestine ➡️ Do you have access to a living room with a TV and/or a yard with a projector? There's a mass call on Wednesday, July 2 to learn how you can host your own screening of The Encampments. (USCPR on Mobilize.org)
- Re: Pride Puppy and other banned books for young people ➡️ the authors and illustrators of the books in the Supreme Court case respond to the ruling. (PEN America)
- The other day I mentioned a training for volunteer court watchers in DC. If you're in New York and thought, "I wish we had something like that," great news ➡️ you do! (Calendly link via J. Wortham)
Weekend wish
May we be high agency people, and/or create the gatherings we've been waiting for. (Kate Barrow; Priya Parker)
