Thursday's things

Happy International Workers Day!

Item 1: Hitting the streets?

Get energized ➡️ I just learned about the New Orleans nurses who went on strike this morning and a May Day bus in Oregon, among others, via a SURJ email.

Safety first ➡️ From a MayDayStrong.org email: Your safety is of the utmost priority. Read this guide to de-escalation skills and mindset, know the protest laws by state and check out this safety planning worksheet before taking to the streets.

Item 2. Need another idea?

Show solidarity with...

Last week the administration moved forward with its plan to strip federal employees of job protections, which would make it possible for the administration to easily fire federal workers. A friend of mine at NOAA writes, “...I will be serving "at will" to the President when this happens. They are careful in the proposed rule to say no loyalty pledge will be required, but we do anticipate something to come down [requiring us] to show allegiance.”
Until May 23rd, the public can make a comment on the Federal Regulations Notice and the government is required to read and respond to each one. Comments can be made anonymously.

P.S.

Thank you to those who've taken my short survey so far; you're helping me think through some tweaks to this newsletter. I'll keep it open for another day or two.
