Thursday's two things

Item 1: Skim my cheat sheet

I caught some of a webinar today with The Adaway Group called "Living, Working, and Leading in Polycrisis" and was grateful for the space that hosts Desiree Adaway and Jessica Fish created. Here are some strategies they named for individuals.

➡️ Name the hypernormalization. Say out loud, often, "This is not normal and this is not ok." Can't address it if we don't name it!

➡️ Ask: What is MINE to do? Ask it every day. Slow. Down.

➡️ Flex your "defiance" muscle. Small everyday acts of defiance prepare us to defy oppressive authority when we need to. So interrupt if someone is being harmed in a town hall setting. Intervene if your neighbor starts harassing someone who's collecting cans from their recycling bin. Wear a mask and oppose mask bans. Use cash – keep the 3% from the big credit card companies and in your community! Refuse to let TSA scan your face.

➡️ De-escalate with everybody you can. This one reminds me of a recent Kelly Hayes post:

➡️ Missed the webinar? The Adaway Group just announced this two-part "Navigating Polycrisis" series in March and April. Financial aid available.

➡️ Want to hear Kelly Hayes interview Margaret Killjoy? I haven't listened to this Movement Memos podcast episode myself yet but am looking forward to it.
