Friday's 3+ things, plus a weekend wish
Item 1. People are undeterred
- A thing to know: The "freedom flotilla" stopped to rescue a group of asylum seekers stranded in the Mediterranean who are reportedly from Sudan.
- A thing to do ➡️ Contribute funds to help a South African delegation march to Gaza.
Item 2. People are creative
- A thing to know: You've heard of Little Free Libraries and Free Fridges. Now: a reproductive health vending machine is open in New Orleans! (via Charlene Carruthers on Bluesky)
- A thing to do ➡️ Volunteer with Techies 4 Reproductive Justice. (Niche, but I happen to know that at least a few readers live right at the center of this Venn diagram!)
Item 3: Friday follow-ups
- Yesterday I mentioned an emergency meeting about the latest xenophobic travel ban. Two action items that the organizers shared:
- Individuals ➡️ Ask your Congresspeople to pass the NO BAN Act.
- Organizations/groups ➡️ Sign on to a solidarity statement to oppose the 2025 entry ban and support targeted communities. Groups are asked to complete the form by Monday, June 9.
- The Ibby folks who were fundraising for librarians in Gaza reached their goal reached their goal. ❤️💔
- In case you missed this week's event roundup, I'm re-sharing one free webinar: Power Jenga: Campaign Strategies to Shake the System.
Weekend wish
May we show up with what we have.
