Friday follow-ups + weekend wish

Item 1. Weekend wish

May we (those of us who have the time and space to do so) spend some time "speaking to people’s best selves, and encouraging them to lift their heads high and advocate for the things which matter. The people who matter." Loud and proud, like Kate Manne says.

With SOPHIE's It's Okay to Cry as a soundtrack if needed.

Item 2.

Early voting starts tomorrow in many places. ➡️ Make a plan with Vote411.

Item 3. Following up on recent fundraisers

  • I recently shared a fundraiser for a Honduran family here in NJ whose father/husband/primary income-earner is scheduled for deportation soon. I met Victoria and her beautiful newborn when he was < 48 hours old. They–and sweet Baby L's three older siblings–have a long road ahead. The GoFundMe is 77% to goal.
  • In Chicago, the GoFundMe for Macario Soto's family is 88% to goal.
  • And speaking of Chicago, THANK YOU to the readers who chipped in for snacks for Chicago's rapid responders and community defense teams. It felt like a tiny but real example of this sort of thing. I placed Order #2 earlier this week:
Screenshot that shows my purchase of $164.96 worth of snack boxes filled with popcorn, granola bars, fruit snacks, etc.
Snippet of my Costco receipt. (Image descriptions are always in alt text.)
