Artsy Tuesday: Two things

Near a large assembled crowd, a child facing away from the camera colors a bird illustration to dedicate to a child killed in Gaza.
A Birds of Gaza art-making table at a rally in Chicago last year. In Hammer & Hope, Maddy Clifford writes that the Left "must use art and media not merely as fluff and distraction but as key points of political education, narrative formation, and radical optimism."

Item 1. "Yes, you; yes, now"

I may have linked to this Don't Just Do Nothing zine before, with its 20 ideas for countering fascism from a bunch Jewish anarchists, but it is so artfully done that I want to share it again. If you're familiar with it already, consider a reread; different ideas (#18? #6?) may jump out as the seasons change.

Item 2. Palestinian traditions

If you don't know much about keffiyeh/kufiyah scarves, maybe you have questions: Is it cultural appropriation if I wear one? What do the different colors signify? This full-color-photo Conde Nast feature, The Hirbawi Factory is the last one standing, has As to these Qs and more. (AD Middle East)

Want to invest in one?

➡️ Hirbawi has a special restock coming next week; follow them on your platform of choice so you don't miss out.

➡️ Sarah Musa's are beautiful. They offer free shipping to the U.S. on orders over $100; perhaps coordinate an order with a few local friends? (via Erin Boyle)

P.S. Another Palestinian tradition to learn about: resistance through dance. (Via Joy is a Strategy: The White Leftist Struggle with Spirit, also via Erin Boyle!)

Remember, to build the power we need to defeat fascism, creativity is a must (Hammer & Hope).

Love,
