Artsy Tuesday continues! Tonight's two things (incl a virtual event TOMORROW)

Item 1: Art in exchange for...
- Monica Trinidad made the postcard-sized prints above. Want one? ➡️ Donate any amount to the Trans Justice Funding Project by May 1. Get all the details at this IG post.
- Did you know that Olly Costello – whose work you might recognize from book covers like We Grow the World Together: Parenting Toward Abolition and the forthcoming picture book Prisons Must Fall – makes a bunch of beautiful work available to the public? ➡️ Find the details (including a request for contribution to Abolitionist orgs) + guidelines for use at this link.
Item 2. Just two events
I didn't pull together a "Mark Your Calendar Monday" this week, but here are a few:
- Wednesday, April 9 (tomorrow!) ➡️ Action Hour to Stop the Immigrant Registry. From the Showing Up for Racial Justice IG:
Remember that terrifying immigrant registry the Trump administration was proposing a few months ago? It's set to go into effect THIS WEEK.
We're partnering with @never_again_action for an action hour TOMORROW, April 9, at 8 pm ET to do our part to stop this legislation in it's tracks. Link in our bio to register.
This move will make rounding up and targeting immigrants easier. It's based on racist legislation against Japanese people in WWII and was used against Arab and Muslim communities post-9/11.
And it makes this country less safe for ALL OF US. Join us Wednesday night to fight back! - Friday, April 25 ➡️ Defend Our Freedom to Learn: Get Free will host a Second Line-style funeral march to the Department of Education (DOE) in DC, mourning the death of our freedoms under the attacks of the MAGA regime. From the signup form:
This action is more than a protest—it’s a cultural and political intervention that meets people where they are emotionally right now (confused, in mourning, grieving for a version of America where we are not at the mercy of a wealthy white few) while inspiring them to step into the fight for real freedom and equality.
By fusing historical Black cultural traditions with a forward-looking movement strategy, we will create a moment that resonates, mobilizes, and fuels lasting impact, one might even say a moment of the whirlwind where our core constituency sees that we can use our grief to fight back rather than allowing it to crush us.
